Members of the Association stay involved in the community with projects like these: - The University of Utah’s Summer Burn Camp — Tragically, approximately half of the patients admitted to the Utah Intermountain Burn Center each year will be children under the age of eighteen. Burn Camp has proven to be a wonderful way to help these young burn victims find support in knowing that they are not alone, that there are others who have experienced the pain, fear, suffering, disfigurement and insecurity that they have felt. The challenges and comradery provided at camp help the kids overcome the fear that they will not be able to do the things that they would like to do, or did before they were injured. Those staff members, nurses, physical therapists, firefighters, and others who volunteer their time and service to these patients as counselors and friends, consider this experience to be one of their greatest rewards.
- The annual Fall Fire Prevention and Safety Program — During the month of October local firefighters conduct this program that coincides with National Fire Prevention Week and will see firefighters visiting with elementary school children. They will present a variety of safety topics as well as distributing special reflective trick or treat bags with fun fire prevention and safety materials.
